Stephane Berghmans wordt nieuwe directeur Technopolis

De Vlaamse Regering heeft Stephane Berghmans aangesteld als nieuwe directeur van Technopolis. Berghmans kwam als beste kandidaat naar voor uit een selectieprocedure. De datum waarop de nieuwe directeur bij Technopolis zijn taken zal opnemen, wordt nog in onderling overleg vastgesteld.

Stephane Berghmans is doctor in de chemie en maakte carrière in de innovatie bij Total, Milliken & Company en Janssen Pharmaceutica. Vandaag is hij Innovation Manager bij CommScope Connectivity Belgium. Hij kwam als meest geschikte kandidaat naar voor uit een onafhankelijk assessment. Uit dat assessment komt Berghmans naar voor als een dynamische manager die een goed evenwicht kan vinden tussen mensgerichtheid, taakgerichtheid en verandering. Hij gaf ook blijkt van een gedegen inhoudelijke visie, waarbij hij wil inzetten op het Internet of Things en partnerships. Tijdens een gesprek overtuigde Berghmans de regering dat hij over de juiste competenties beschikt om Technopolis een volgende fase in te leiden, waarmee de regering ook de inschatting van de Raad van Bestuur volgde.

Vlaams minister van Innovatie Philippe Muyters: “Stephane Berghmans heeft zijn ervaring in de academische en de bedrijfswereld. Hij is een man die de brug kan slaan tussen die twee werelden en het publiek. Bovendien kwam hij naar voor als een enthousiaste en vernieuwende manager. Hij is iemand die met zijn dynamische leiderschapsstijl in staat moet zijn om de uitdagingen waar Technopolis voor staat op een gedragen manier aan te pakken.”
