Zestien miljoen euro voor slimme maakcampus op Thor Park

Op Thor Park in Genk wordt 16 miljoen euro geïnvesteerd in een gloednieuw gebouw voor slimme maakbedrijven. Het is de eerste concrete stap in de realisatie van een slimme maakcampus op de site. Deze slimme maakcampus zal zorgen voor 600 extra jobs, opgeteld met de andere ambities op Thor Park moet de site in tien jaar 5000 extra jobs opleveren.

De eerste module van dit nieuwe gebouw wordt nu gerealiseerd en is 8000m² groot en bestaat uit productiehallen, kantoorruimtes, labo’s en testruimtes. In deze labo’s en testruimtes kunnen processen voor automatisatie, digitalisering en robotisering uitgewerkt en getest worden. Uniek in de aanpak is dat de productie-, kantoor- en testruimtes in het gebouw op een flexibele manier kunnen gehuurd worden door maakbedrijven.

Partners van het project zijn stad Genk, LRM, KU Leuven, Flanders Make, SIRRIS en POM Limburg.

Het slimme maakgebouw kan rekenen op 5,2 miljoen euro vanwege EFRO en 1 miljoen euro bijkomende steun vanwege Vlaams minister van Economie Hilde Crevits.  Eind 2022 zal het slimme maakgebouw in gebruik worden genomen.

Voor het ontwerp werd het Brussels architectenbureau XDGA aangesteld.

Flanders Looks ahead to the Tenth European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation

Although Horizon Europe (= the ninth European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation) is only halfway through, preparations for its successor have already begun. Therefore, in Flanders, the Working Group 12 of the Flemish Stakeholder Platform for European Programmes (VEP), has drafted a reflection paper on the future FP10. A similar exercise was done in the past for the current Horizon Europe programme.
